Publishing
I made the mistake of sending a prototype to publishers. It was only after the fact I found out that most need a vertical slice. I sent it to a lot of the publishers you could think of. I wish I had waited till after I did my playtesting. The amount of changes that happened in 2 months would have made the difference.
But you live and you learn and you learn to live. The nice people at Indie.io were willing to publish the game, but they couldn't provide funding. That was the main thing I was looking for at the time. I needed some extra money to commission the player characters. I'm able to make all the monsters my self but human pixel art is a no go. But sadly no one else was intrested, Its a kick to the shin but you gotta keep on moving.
I guess its a blessing in disguse maybe, i dont know. But because of that situation I was able to find a spriter, and a playtester on my own. And she was able to do what would have taken me a year on my own in the span of a few weeks. So am I sad I didnt find a publisher? Oh hell yea im crying on the inside. But one of them said "We like your game, but its not what we're looking for." so that makes me feel okay... not better but okay, I think ill keep working. I think i'll try going solo with friends just this once.
